CURRENT SITE CONDITIONS
Once home to St. Joseph Catholic Church and School, the site is now devoid of activity. The school moved into their new facility on Epps Bridge Parkway in 2012, and church services are gradually moving to the new campus.
As a result of the move, the school buildings are now vacant, and the sounds of children playing at the once vibrant site are now gone. The buildings on the site are gradually falling into disrepair, as they no longer fulfill the needs of the church and school. Of the 9 buildings scattered across the site, 5 are temporary classroom structures or storage buildings.
Located on the SE corner of Prince Ave. and Pulaski Street, the site consists of 6.7 acres, and fronts Prince Ave., Pulaski Street and a portion of the site fronts Childs Street. The proposed design of the site promises to return vibrancy to this significant corner, while protecting the values of Athens, integrity of the neighborhood and values of those who make it their home.
